Balloon Wreath

Birthdays are so fun! I am all about turning a birthDAY into birthday WEEK. Everyone deserves to be spoiled for their birthday. This month it is both mine and my daughters birthday so I have been looking for fun crafts for us to do together. I saw a balloon wreath on pinterest and had to create my own. I love this because it works for any age and gender. It's a unisex decoration which is  hard to find.

Materials:
* 200 balloons (Dollar Tree sells 25 for $1 or Walmart sells 75 for $4.50. I liked the colors better at Walmart so I used those)
* 18 inch styrofoam wreath ($7.99 at Michaels. I used 40% off coupon which made it only $4.80)
* Pins (one container is all you need, there is like 300 in a package)

Layout a couple packages of balloons so you can see al the colors and start pinning. Pin some by the round top part, some by the center, and some by the mouth of the balloon. You want to pin it different ways so it creates variety and texture.

Get the kids involved. They were so anxious to help! I let my 2 year old pick out what balloon color we would use next and my 4 year old pin the balloon. ( I  secretly had to redo a couple to get the color combo I liked :) but they were good little helpers. They were trying to blow them up as we put some on, so you may get some salvia mixed in there too.

It took about an hour to get all the balloons on, so it is a little time consuming but super easy.  I was really excited how it turned out!

I saw a couple online that had cute little birthday signs attached to them, but I haven't found any I like yet. Some also put a wood letter in the middle of the person's birthday. There are lots of fun variations to make it your own!

Polka Dotting

Big dot. Small dot.

Mixing prints and sizes of print really makes an outfit pop. Polka dots are a big trend for spring, I think they will become the new closet staple like stripes.

Snow Storm

Well it decided to start snowing as I went to take pics.... so we are going with the festive snow pics today. I have been feeling Valentinesy with all the cute Pinterest crafts, I decided to bring some red in my wardrobe today too. Plus I'm trying to get the last couple wears of my bright red pants with bulky sweaters for winter. I'm anxiously waiting to bust out my pastel denim for spring! Now we just need some sunshine.

Maxi Loving

All the spring clothes are coming out and its giving me major shopping fever! BUTTT I am in saving mode right now instead of spending, so I pulled out my tub of summer clothes looking for something to make me smile.

Walah! I found my summer maxi dress. Threw my leather coat over it with some chunky accessories, grey socks, and wedges.

(ignore the fact that last watch picture is super distorted in color, my flash was acting crazy and I was too lazy to retake it)

Equestrian Riding Legging

Been deep cleaning the house all weekend, feels so good to have things organized! The left over Christmas decorations that were just shoved in the corner for the last two weeks are finally put away and Valentine's is in full swing at the Andrew house along with birthday decorations. My daughter's b-day is this month and I am all about celebrating as long as possible. I was having a little cabin fever and needed to get out! So I ran to a couple thrift stores to see what little cheap organizers I could find. Excited to share with you guys this week some awesome finds.

Today's outfit is about leggings. I think we can all agree leggings are a favorite because they are so comfortable. I got these a couple years ago and they are a little bit more dressy because they have the detailed stitching that makes them look like equestrian/riding leggings. They don't sell these ones anymore but here are a few links to some other cute equestrian leggings: reasonable here (fawn color), splurge here

I would have to say one of my favorite winter items is my black puffy coat. It is the warmest thing ever. If you don't own a long coat that goes like mid thigh-knees, and you live somewhere cold, you need to buy one. I never noticed until I had a long coat how much warmer your whole body is when your bum and thighs are warm. They have some really cute one's at H&M that are super reasonable, but you can find them almost anywhere.

Mint

Trends always cycle back around! SAVE YOUR OLD CLOTHES.

Sometimes I get mad at myself for getting rid of stuff because a couple years later it is back in style, and I think to myself "crap why did I get rid of that". I've had this mint scarf since high school and lucky for me pastels are so in right now. So dig through your closet and see if you can find yourself a hidden treasure :)

I got this turtleneck at Old Navy this weekend for $2! I was so excited.

Lights, Camera, Action

My blog has suffered this week! Sorry guys! Things have been so crazy busy with ILY COUTURE I haven't had time to do a whole lot of anything. Today we had the show on the Daily Dish on CW, huge success! If you missed the video you can see it here.

So I had to put together a fun outfit for the day. I'm loving lace right now!

Cargo Jacket

I love when I find something I haven't worn in forever hiding in my closet. Today it was this J. Crew cargo jacket I got last year on major clearance. I think it was only like $25-$30.

Black w/ Pop of Color

I love all the classic colors, blacks, browns, beige, neutrals, etc. For a classic look, wear all black with a pop of color. Red lips are still so hot right now! It is a great way to make an outfit pop. Throw in another neutral color with your solid. I wore a camel wool fedora for my accent with a cute wool jacket. Online its saying $39 but I picked it up at Old Navy for only $16. In store sales are almost always better!
