Sale Favorites

With Labor Day around the corner all the good sales are starting this week. I like to find staple pieces that I can use in any season like this open drape cardigan or this neutral color block bag. It's also a great time to get home decor and furniture pieces. Cody and I are working on redoing our Living Room so I have been on the hunt for a good coffee table and some unique accent pieces. I'm loving this travertine marbled top one with the modern brass legs ($200 off right now) and I just ordered these gold accent lamps (40% off). Also in love with this leopard ottoman and this oversized print one.

Macy's has some really great sales on Men's stuff right now. Cody's birthday is coming up so I ordered him these sale Nikes (under $80) and this jacket. You can get an extra 15-20% off if you use code DEALS at checkout.

Below are a few more sale favorites catching my eye:
ROW 1: Fall Essentials

Every Season Essentials + Shoe Sale

DETAILS.
3.  Chic White Maxi (60% off) // 4. White Utility Jacket (40% off)
5. Ankle Boot (60% off - non sale with more sizes here) // 6. Grey Casual Maxi (40% off)
7. Wool Fedora (in love, just ordered it) // 8.  Sassy Lace Up Heels (over 60% off)
9. Leather Moto Jacket (40% off)

As much as I am a sucker for color, the classic shades are always essential pieces as well. They are easy to mix and match and pieces that never go out of style. What I love about all the above pieces is they can be worn in any season. Ankle boots paired with cutoffs shorts and a fedora, or a basic maxi transitioned into fall with a leather moto or paired with grey denim (on sale). However you transition them they work simultaneously with each other.

Barney's is having a huge designer shoe sale. Shoes have always been my weakness. I'm obsessed with these mint Manolo's, so bummed they are sold out of my size when they have so many other sizes. I keep checking back everyday hoping someone returns a pair so I can get them. All the shoes below are 40-75% off. A great time to add to add to your shoe collection at a discount.

Pastels Please

DETAILS.
5.  Pink Heel //  6. Pastel Kimono

Pastels are one of my favorite colors to wear in the summer. Especially if you have a little tan the colors just pop. From flirty dresses to lightweight kimonos there are so many ways to incorporate pastels into your wardrobe. This collared pink/white blouse would be great paired with a blazer for work or how pretty would these shoes look paired with a pastel pink dress for contrast.

What pastel shade is your favorite to wear?

The Perfect Pink Skirt

Ever since I saw the picture of Jessica Alba in the pink chiffon skirt I have been on the hunt for a similar piece. Inspired by all tones of pink, this pink pleated skirt is my favorite. I saw it and immediately had to have it.

Father's Day Gift Guide

Where has this year gone? I can't believe Father's Day is almost here. Why is it that boys would seem like the easiest people to buy for but really they aren't? I've narrowed down a few of my favorites picks for the different types of Dad's in your life.

Sporty Dad

Stylish Dad

Macy's is offering an extra 25% off site wide (code: EXTRA) with guaranteed Father's Day shipping. A deal for Dad never hurt right? :) If your having a hard time picking something out, I think two basic gifts that work for almost every Dad is 1. A good pair of shoes and 2. A techy gift.

For shoes, both my Dad and Cody have Sperry's. They are a classic shoe that fits every style of man at every age group. They are great to wear for friend's weddings, a date night, or even just a casual brunch with family.  This color is probably the most universal and would match the most. A simple techy gift are these charging phone cases. My Dad just got one, and my husband and I both had to borrow it on our California trip because our phone's die so fast.  Both of these are safe buys if your having troubles figuring out what to get.

I still have a couple things I need to get, but I just got these socks for my husband and I'm loving these woven belts to match his casual slacks or shorts. They are a great deal under $30.

My dad is always the hardest. He likes dress shirts with button down collars so I'm thinking maybe this crimson chambray shirt. Both my Dad and Cody love toys so I've been eyeing these so they can play them with kids. Have you started Father's Day shopping?

Most of the Memorial sales have wrapped up, but there are still a few days left for Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale. I love when I can find classic pieces I would buy regular price on sale. Handbags and shoes are some of the best pieces to get on sale. I'm swooning over this bag.

New Mom

I really don't think anything is much better than being a new mom, but let's be honest it's overwhelming and it feels like there is a million things you need and should know. I'm sure a lot of you are experienced Mom's, but I was the clueless Mom to be. I spent hours reading reviews and trying to figure out which products to buy. So I wanted to put together a list of products I've loved so far for those of you who may be feeling/felt overwhelmed and clueless like me :)

1. Uppa Vista Stroller - I really love this stroller. We had tried a couple cheap ones when my step kids were little and I hated pushing it. I remember being hunched over trying to push them because the handle bars were so low, and it never turned corners easy. It was a nightmare. The Uppababy Vista is super easy to maneuver and it comes with a cute basinet. It is 100% worth the investment having something that is lightweight and easy to push around. We got the carseat that goes with it so I don't have to pull B out of his seat to get him in the stroller, it just snaps in.

2. Slip On Shoes - Skip shoes with laces the first couple months - you're late to almost everything because it takes an extra 20 minutes to get your diaper bag together and load the baby. Laces are one less thing to manage if you have slip ons :) These dolce vita shoes have been my favorite post baby. They are so easy to slip on and really comfortable.  I love the color too.

3.  Dr. Brown's Bottles - So I actually just switched to these recently. Beckam was getting bad air bubbles and gas when he ate so my doctor recommended these bottles. They have a vent system that helps reduce colic and gas. Also if you don't have gas drops make sure and get some. They are only a couple bucks at any grocery store, but those help a lot too.

4. Mamaroo - My best friend actually told me about this one and B loves it. He goes in it every morning after his morning feed and it just puts him right back to sleep. It's like the modern swing. I got black because I assumed with babies it would get dirty but they have lots of cute colors and patterns here. The Mamaroo has nature sounds you can play or you can plug in your ipod and play your own music. They also have a little insert for newborns you will want to get. It just helps them fit in it better during the early stages.

5. Stuffed Animal Pacifier - Really I just think these are cute! Having the pacifier attached to a little animal makes it easier to find inside the diaper bag. They make great shower gifts too.

6. Dreft Laundry Detergent - Beckam has super sensitive skin (sadly one of the things he inherited from me) I tried a couple different brands but they made him break out in a rash. This one worked the best to get out spit up and stains but was still gentle enough on his skin.

7. Marc Jacobs Diaper Bag - I wanted a diaper bag that didn't scream diaper bag, but felt more like a purse. I loved the look of this one. It's super light weight and spacious. There is plenty of compartments to store things and it comes with a little changing pad which is nice when your on the go. It's also not too girly so Cody is happy with it when he's on daddy duty :)

8. Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets - You can not have enough of these. I had one pack before Beckam was born and bought 3 more after. I use these for everything from burp clothes to swaddle blankets. They are so soft and really lightweight so you don't over heat your baby when they are wrapped.

** Extra: Control Top Underwear: These Yummy Tummy underwear were my favorite for holding in the bump to fit in my pants early in my pregnancy and great keeping the tummy tight after. I love these underwear because they just help form your body. Also these short ones are great for under dresses/skirts since you bend down a lot more with babies.

** RETURNING - You may notice a lot of these products are from Nordstrom. This is not a sponsored post this is just my honest opinion. I had a situation with a pair of pants last year I got and they ripped like eight months later. Being they were one of my favorite pairs, I took them in hoping they could fix them (assuming I would be paying for the alternations). Nope, Nordstrom had a brand new pair sent out, and they were $40 cheaper eight months later so they refunded me the difference. I was shocked. I didn't want the $40, freak I felt guilty taking it since I had worn the pants a bunch they just ripped. My point being they truly value the customer. When trying baby products some you think you will love and end up hating. A lot of times you buy this stuff before the baby even comes. Once you've had the baby and actually try the stuff out you realize you don't like it and your return time frame is over. I bought everything I could from Nordstrom so if I needed to exchange anything I could. You don't have to have a receipt and there's not a time frame you have to return it in. I've had couple things that didn't work out and I'm so thankful for their easy exchange policy.

There are so many great products out there these are just the ones that have worked for us. One thing I am still trying to find is a good soap/shampoo. With Beckam's sensitive skin we have tried like 5 different brands and they all irritate his skin. If you have any suggestions of one that have worked for you I would love to hear!

Hope you all have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's and Grandma's!

Kids Shoes: Baby + Mom

BABY BOY.

BABY GIRL.

I think baby/toddler shoes are one of my favorite things to buy. One because I just love shoes, and two because their mini size just makes them ten times cuter. Nordstrom has always been my go to for classic kids shoes like Converse,  Hunters, and Nike. These were actually Beckam's first pair of shoes and they stay on so well even being a size big. I'm also obsessed with these mini Lebron's they just got for Spring. I have to get Beckam a pair to match his Dad.

I know I have mentioned it a couple times, but I totally buy kids shoes for myself. I am a women's size 8 and get a 6 in kids. You can save a few bucks on shoes they make in both adults and kids and a lot of times they have brighter color options like pinks and neons in kids sizes verses adults. You probably remember the mint hunters I've worn on my blog and Instagram a lot (they are kids shoes). I'm loving this pink pair. I think they are next on my list. Also these cute jelly Burberry's are only $75.

Maternity Essentials

It's so crazy to me how fast pregnancy has gone by. I feel like yesterday I found out I was pregnant. Being this was my first time around, I remember being so excited yet SO nervous. With my two step babies I had experience being a mom, but being pregnant was a whole new adventure. A lot of you have asked about my maternity essentials and pregnancy routine so I wanted to share a little more today.

1. Long Tee & Tank - One of my biggest frustrations being pregnant was finding shirts that covered my belly. The two I found to be the best basic layering tops (both under $15) were:
 * Mossimo Crew Neck Tees - I bought the long sleeve version because it was cold most of my pregnancy but here is a link to the short sleeve version for you Spring/Summer pregnant mamas (size up to get the length).
 * My other go to was these $1.80 Forever 21 tanks. You can't go wrong for $2. I bought a large and wore one almost everyday I was pregnant. They are so great for layering I have like 2 in every color.

2. Tiek's Flats - If you are a frequent reader of my blog you know I rarely wear flats unless it's sneakers or converse. It's been such an adjustment the last couple months of pregnancy wanting to still be a little dressy but not wear heels. I am completely in love with Tieks. I tried them for the first time this year and they are worth the price. I think the reason I hadn't worn flats much before is I couldn't find a pair that was comfortable. I wear these all day and my feet don't cramp or feel squished. I'm converted! (this is the neutral pair I got to match the most/ also love these)

3. Maternity Jeans - Let's just say I didn't really know what these were until I was pregnant. I pictured old grandma jeans in my head and didn't even look into them until I was over 20 weeks pregnant. I used hair elastics to squeeze into my jeans as long as I could. It got to the point even those didn't work and I would just wear super long shirts and leave my pants all the way unzipped because I didn't have any jeans to wear. That ended pretty quick and one of my friends told me designer brands made maternity jeans. LIFE SAVER. I wish I would have invested in these way earlier. They are a maternity must. My favorite maternity jean brands were AG Jeans and Paige. For me I liked the over the belly band ones from AG, if you follow me on Instagram you know I lived in this pair through my pregnancy. For the side bands ones,  Paige was my favorite (I have this pair). Destination maternity has a great selection of designer brands.

4. Mustela Stretch Mark Cream - Face it our bodies morph and do crazy things for our babies, and sometimes our skin can suffer. My mom instilled in me to take care of my skin, so I have been really paranoid about stretch marks. I read a lot of reviews and Mustela was the the best. It is kind of expensive but two bottles lasted me my whole pregnancy. No stretch marks to date :) (knock on wood!)

5. Maternity Bra - Another thing I waited forever to buy that I wish I would have purchased earlier in my pregnancy. Some people say sports bras work for them but they squished my boobs down too much when I was wearing non work out shirts. I tried a couple different brands and these Cake Bras were my favorite. They also have little buckles in the front, so they can be used post baby for nursing.

6. Body Pillow - It gets to the stage where it gets super uncomfortable to sleep, sit on the couch, all the basic things you take for granted. My best friend Jen found this company Bump Nest and I am obsessed with their pillows. I use my maternity pillow almost daily. I can't sleep with it every night because I am huge cuddler and I hate having space between Cody and I, but whenever I am watching TV, lounging, or working on my computer in bed, I'm always using it. It's great for your posture and they have the cutest pillow cases (I got the stone chevron). I also just found out they have an acid reflex pillow which is next on my purchase list because I have been getting the worst heart burn the last couple weeks.

7. Fetal Dopler - My cousin gave me this and it was a God - send. If you are a worrier like me the first 16 weeks of pregnancy can seem like the slowest time of your life. The baby isn't big enough to feel it kick and your constantly wondering if he/she is ok. This little device is basically an at home heart monitor. So anytime your paranoid something is wrong you can listen to your babies heart beat. I did this almost every other day the first couple weeks I was pregnant because I was so paranoid something might be wrong. Mine was gifted but you can find them on Amazon or just google "baby heart monitor" they are like $40-$70 but so worth the peace of mind.
**Also a little tip: you don't have to buy the ultrasound gel, KY Jelly or Aloe Vera works the same and it's a lot cheaper.

A couple other maternity basics:
I haven't bought a ton of maternity clothes really other than jeans and a few dresses. Almost everything I wore I just ordered 1-2 sizes up so I could wear it after I have the baby. Some other favorites:
 - Black Leggings - Love Hue
 - Cute maternity dresses - more of me & ASOS
 - Oversized Sweats
- Best Designer Maternity Clothes selection - here

Happy Pregnancy!

DETAILS.

Navy and shades of blue are one of the big colors we are seeing this Spring. I love how easy it is to pair with bright colors or pastels. Don't be afraid to mix patterns and textures. They all play well off each other.
