Outerwear selections are insane this time of year. Don't get me wrong, I love a pretty dress coat (this pink one is my favorite), but you also need a good basic, neutral jacket that you can wear with anything. I got this quilted black puffer a couple weeks and it's been the perfect light weight layer as we run around on the weekends.  I think people automatically assume quilter or puffer jackets make you look puffy, but it's actually the opposite. Flat stitching and quilting on a smaller scale will actually make a piece more form fitting and feminine (stay away from larger puffs and oversized coats to keep it sleek) A quilted jacket’s versatility allows it to go from sporty to chic at the flip of a switch, like switching sneakers for heels. The quilted texture keeps things interesting, so keep other textures understated to let the quilted feature be the star of the show.

I like to pretend I'm on time places, but 90% of the time I'm late, "fashionably late". It's something I really need to work on, it drives my husband crazy. Having a baby has only made it worse. In my head I think it only takes five minutes to get Beckam dressed, load the diaper bag, and buckle him in the car, and fifteen minutes later we are still not even out of the house. Weekends are the days I don't feel guilty if I dilly dally and take my sweet time. They are the relaxed days we are rarely on a schedule and I can kick back in a oversized tee and comfy shorts and not worry about being on time.

Beckam has really become my little shadow. I love taking him everywhere with me, it's like having a mini best friend. Maybe it's because I was an only child and always wanted the constant companion, but I can't get enough :) Saturday mornings are errand days, typically we are running to the mall, grocery shopping, or getting the car cleaned out. My uniform is always comfy shorts (distressed denim or workout), sneakers, and oversized tee (this one on repeat). 90% of the time I roll no make-up and I swear it's always the times I run into people I know. Do you guys have that? The days you don't get ready you see everyone you know :) 

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public today! Time to stock up for fall! Below are a few of my picks. I will be sharing more next week. I have been drawn towards classic pieces lately, white being one of the big eye catchers for me. I liked the texture of this white transparent top because it creates a little dimension to the basic white on white outfit.

Quick post today. We just got back from Denver last night and I'm playing catch up getting organized for the week.

As I mentioned last week I would be sharing a different collection of my favorite pieces from the Nordstrom Sale to help with ideas as you begin eyeing holiday gifts and new seasonal pieces for yourself. Today's collection is classic designer handbags and wallets. I am in need of a good neutral beige satchel. I can't take my eyes off this Marc Jacobs one.

I'll be honest, I haven't gotten ready the last few days. I've been living in this oversized tee and baggy shorts. The nights have started cooling down so I always throw a blazer in my car to layer up when the chill sets in (or maybe it's my subconscious anxiously waiting to layer up for fall).

Most of these pieces are old, staple items I've had for years. A basic color palette of blues, for a casual look. 

There's quiet, peaceful rainy days I enjoy, but cold rainy days after 90 degree days are not my favorite. So maybe my subconscious spoke to me when I got dressed this morning, because I was experiencing a little rain blues :)
